I bought my Volvo 850 with 86K miles on it, almost 3 years ago. It now has 103K. After buying it, I found out that the automatic tranmission had been rebuilt in 2001 by Aamco. For about 2 years now I have been wondering about this problem. On occassion, I feel a hesitation or thud before coming to a complete stop (between second and first gear). Also occassionally, after coming to a complete stop, I would press on the excellerator to go again, and the car would not move as if it was in neutral. Then, all of a sudden, it would catch first gear and begin to move. There is no consistency in both cases, but only on occassion. Has anyone had this problem before. Could it be the transmission or possibly a computer malfunction? Thanks...

 

Sounds like a problem in the trans itself.Might be one the the solenoids in the trans.
