2001 S60 T5 Fuel Issues
Hey everyone, ive been working on this car for a while and started with replacing the fuel pump but I dont think that was the problem as it still wont start the pump unless I jump the relay.
I have another 2001 non turbo and I tried the known good relay from it with no results.
The fuel pump will not turn on unless I bypass the relay with wire.
Am i missing a sensor to check or is my cem bad?
What is needed for the fuel pump to start?
The car starts with the jumped relay so could I just wire a switch and have it run constantly? Or would this cause over pressure of the system?
Thank you for any help.

did you test to see if the relay is getting a signal when the key turns on, check the voltage in/out of the fuse and wiring from the fuse to the relay?
A wiring diagram would help you with your diagnostics as you should be able to trace the volts from the ignition all the way to the relay (and that would tell you whether the CEM is in play or not). Not sure but I don't think your year has the variable pump that uses a fuel pressure sensor so it should be a more basic system.
The purpose of the relay is to turn off the fuel when the key is off and when the engine is not running (say due to a stall or an accident) so there's a safety consideration here that suggests to just fix it correctly.

Just took a multimeter out and am getting consistent readings from everything, so I think its just not getting the signal to turn on...
So the pump would just be on at all times anyways? That would make sense with the relay incase one was to crash and then its not dumping gas into it. If i wanted a temporary way to get around would I be able to wire up a switch and be careful with it?
thank you
