Hi,

I have a 2001 S60 2.4T, I noticed there was noise from the compartment, whenever I step the brake, the "squeezing" noise come back. It sounds like from the fan, because when I turned off the A/C or Fan, it stops, or when I turned the fan high, run fast, the noise gone. Can anyone please let me know what cause that? It is really annoying. I changed the cabin filter, it doesn't help. Is there a fan inside the compartment?

Does it sound like a vaccum leak?

 

no, it doesn't.....it;s more like rattling.....it seems like when i get a bump on the road, it starts coming back......it's really annoying....

 

Is the A/C draining under the car good?

 

yes, everything seems fine......but the weird noise is driving me nuts.....i had the mechanic checked, they all said the car is okay and they said they need to take the whole dash board out to inspect, and it takes half day and labor = $850!!!! JUST TO INSPECT!!! INSANE!

 

Yes it is a major pain to remove the dash to inspect.

There is one thing I have seen happen before though.
Under the center speaker cover in the dash is a mounting tab for the dash.
I have seen the screw come loose and cause a noise similiar to what you say you hear.

 

Thanks Tech! I will give a try to check any loose screw. It's somewhere around the cabin air filter, do you think there is a fan? Because it's more sound like a squeezing noise from the fan......anyway, i will givea try.

 

Maybe it might be from the fan but the fan is hidden really well on your car.
Also make sure it isn't the glovebox door making the noise.

 

It's blower motor problem on the passenger side. It cost me $250 for parts, mechanic didn't mention about labor.......i assume $500, because he said it takes at least one day. BIG PAIN! Does anyone know how to change that?

 

Its not that hard. Its not an all day job!!!
