2001 T5 Alternator/Power Failure Issues
My 2001 S60 T5 has recently begun losing power (a/c shutting down, no acceleration, etc) while driving. I have good battery power and wonder if it is the alternator or a computer code issue. Any thoughts? Is an alternator replacement something an average guy can do with all of the other components in the way or should I drop the cash for a mechanic job? Should I have the codes checked first?
Thanks for the reply SVT. After checking Alldata, it seems that there is a service bulletin covering the same issue. Does Volvo generally cover these issues, even though it is so far out of warranty (84k miles) or am I on my own? Thanks again for the info.
The alt. went out on my 2003 C70 at 81,000 and I had to get towed home. I dash lights started to go nuts and then the car went dead.
I changed it myself with a Autozone part. You might as well change the serpintine belt while you are there. I did the work myself.

No, they probably will not if you do not have a service history.
