2001 Volvo V70 T5 Auto "No oil pressure"
Well I recently purchased a 2001 V70 T5 w/ 170k miles in St. Louis last weekend. The car was driving just fine. I drove it 100 miles back to home in Columbia, MO. I didn't have any issues until I drove to dinner and was coming home and the "No oil pressure" light came on. I stopped the car, checked to make sure I had oil and then restarted the vehicle. The light went off.
I drive about 50 miles round trip each day (60MPH 2 lane country road) and yesterday it was fine until I got near my house on the way home. Again, I turned the car off and back on and the light went off. I drove the car to work today and the light didn't come back on yet. I just wasn't sure if I should try and change the oil and sending unit first to rule these two items out as issues?
The previous owner had the oil changed with Castrol synthetic blend at the Volvo dealership. It still has about 5k miles until it would be due but the date for the next oil change was listed back in May 2015. I am guessing he didn't drive it must before selling it / donating it.
I ready about sludge and o-rings in the oil pan but those seemed to be caused by the "no oil pressure" light coming on at idle. Mine only comes on while driving, not while I am at idle.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I was told the car was well maintained. I have included the history I was able to find online.

Do you have a check engine light warning/ OBD2 fault codes? while this is most likely a wiring/connector or oil pressure sensor issue, if you have a true oil pressure issue you are risking serious engine problems not attending to it immediately. Best to have the oil pressure tested and consider replacing the pressure sensor. You may also want to measure up your voltage - its possible you have an issue with the regulator (messing with the gauges). Also, low oil pressure can set off the VVT (variable valve timing) on some models (like the S40) to throw codes so if you can stop by an Autozone or similar to see if they can do a quick check for OBD2 codes, that may give you more clues.
