Default 2002 S60 with "slipping" transmission.......

When I change from reverse to drive there is a lag before the transmission goes into drive.
1. 165,000 miles - automatic transmission - 2002 model

2. Had Volvo change the fluid last month - beginning of problem
3. Have checked the fluid level per manual 3 times - always correct.
4. When it does go into drive there is not a "bump" or any unusual noise.

Any ideas?
Thank You in advance - Jim

I have the same problem, ever since I let a service bay flush the fluid in our first Volvo V70. We bought it used and it already had 85K miles at the time. We have not fixed it yet and fear the worst. I am having it checked out in a week at the dealership and will let you know what they say.

If the tranny is bad, the cost for a remanufactured unit for that car is about - hope your sitting down - $5,700.00 just for the transmission.

I'm going through the same issue right now. I have a 2001 S60 and the damn car is worth less than the cost of a replacement transmission.

I'm currently looking to buy a different car and part mine out.

Wow Jim, I'm having the same issue with a 2002 S60 @ 165,000 miles that just had a transmission flush a few months ago... but I don't actually feel any signs of issues when I drive my car...

https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-s60-v60-10/transmission-service-required-code-50782/

I hate how common this issue is --- it makes me think that my car is going to break down at any moment.

my car also has the same problem with the slipping I have been driving it like that for 1 year. I also had it flushed out made things better for a short time. But when I had to bring it to a dealer for some other problem they said Volvo does not recamend getting the trans flushed.

I'm sure the gearbox is OK. It's a closed hydraulic system. In terms of moderate driving lasts a lifetime . Excessive driving also fine as long you do a double flush FULL change of fluid as per every 60K. Most people change it with leveller only. Also every flush been engaged every gear for 10-15 second. with running engine. The last level set by 60 Celsius . There is no filter fitted but a debris settle chamber relased with the full drain bolt.
