2002 volvo s60 aftermarket stereo "HELP"
I have a 2002 volvo s60 2.4 turbo, and i want to replace the aftermarket radio. I kno how to get the radio out and all that but do i replace it with a single din or a double din? Also does it still sound as good if i would replace the stock headunit? Any help is appreciated!
go to crutchfield.com put in your year, make and model and it will list the stereo's for you and will let you know if they are single or double as well as if you will need any types of adapters....good luck!
I have seen pictures of double din units installed in the S60 but the OE looking trim piece for double din is not as common as the single din. Crutchfield does not offer the double din piece, so they don't even list any units as fitting. Hope that helps a little.
thanks for the input! unfortunately, i still have not found a double din dash kit. :/ if anyone has anywhere to go to get one it'd be awesome! Crutchfield does not have them that I can see.
try here: Volvo - Dash Kits | Car Stereo Installation & Accessori as well as here: Dash Kit [Volvo] - Dash Kits, Pockets & Trim - Dash Kits - Radio Adapters - Autotoys I hope this helps you!
just a quick fyi man, i tried replacing my stock unit in my 03 s60 not too long ago and got a horrible squelch from my speakers. Apparently the stock systems are so good that if you want an aftermarket head unit and keep the stock speakers you're going to have to re-wire your entire stereo system and bypass the stock amplifiers i didn't even know were there. The stock system changes the OHM impedance and will distort your speakers.
