I just noticed today that the fan directly behind the grille of the car ( I believe this is the radiator fan?) is not running. Would this be causing the loud engine noises or is that just another issue to look at?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

 

The fan only runs when it is called for buy the temp of the car. It does not run all the time. With the noise make a short Vid clip and post it .This could be 100 things, or nothing but the turbo spool. GL

 

Is that the same fan that is supposed to turn on for afterblow? I bought the car just recently and the afterblow has never kicked in.

edit: btw, my car is turbocharged. I'll put a vid up asap.

 

u need to isolate the noise, suspension?? engine?? interior?? front engine cooling don't stay on all the time. u could test it be turning the a/c on then the cooling fan should come on within a min. afterblow is different, the use the interior blower fan. it only turns on when a/c being used, vehicle shut off after 50 min. then it comes on it own.

 

does it do it when accelerating at any speed or just from a stop? sometimes if I am creeping away from a stop and just start accelerating I get a moan/vibration from the front brakes...

 

Almost sounds like a worn bearing or gear. If it was my vehicle I would start with checking wheel bearings and associated components.
