Default 2004 S60 ABS Control Module

Hello Forums!

About a year ago I bought a 2004 S60 (and I love it).

Recently the ABS light started coming on intermittently, and then one day it came on and stayed on. From reading online this is apparently quite common.

I'm trying to source a replacement part, but I'm not exactly sure which I need? I was quoted AUD$2,200 new for one, but I've seen both #8671457 and #8671224 mentioned online and at far cheaper for refurb or secondhand.

Does anyone have any advice? Even somewhere in Australia that has part available?

Regards,
GuySurname

The ABS light can indicate one of several problems - the speed sensor or wheel sensors can fail or get dirty (particularly if you have a bad axle boot throwing grease on the hub), can indicate a failed ABS pump or can be caused by a crack in the ABS controller board. Best way to start is to see if you can get any fault codes read. Note this may require a top end code reader or a VIDA/DICE tool (which the dealer would have). that can tell you a bit more. If it is in fact the ABS controller board, there are a few shops here in North America which repair them - Google Midwest ABS, XModem and Victor Rocha (RochaTek?) to name a few. Repairs generally run 200 USD.
