I just purchased a 2004 s60, the 2.5T awd and i need a muffler to get it inspected, I have a shop that will inspect it as long as *something* is there, any cheap, temporary solutions that y'all have in mind?

 

when you say "needs a muffler" are you saying there's an exhaust leak or the muffler has been removed? Cheap depends on what part needs to be replaced or fixed - Common problem areas are the flex pipe (that metal mesh section on the down pipe) - which can be replaced with a generic flex pipe but would require some cutting/welding. If you need a cat-back component then again you can try welding in fresh metal depending on what is needed or you can try a recycle yard for a used one (some states restrict selling of used cat's so this may be an issue). After that its a trip to the parts store or shopping online.
