I am trying to buy a K&N air filter for my 2004. All the diagrams show mine to be a flat type filter but it is actually a cylinder style. The E-2019 for a 2005 is what my car actually takes. Did Volvo do something mid year in 2004 or am I missing something? If this is a mid year model, does anybody know of anything else that might be different when I go to order parts?

The weird thing is I went thru the application search, and it gave me part #E-4430, which by the photo isn't right. E-2019 looks right.Non-R's use the flat panel filter. But '04 is not a mid year model. I think if anything it was released in some places prior to the '04 model year.

Andgo easy on the oil. It can mess with the MAF sensor if you over oil it.

 

Thank you for the info. I know it is not a major issue, it just makes me wonder when I go to order some other parts for the car later on, what year they will be under, you know. I'll just have to keep an eye on the parts and don't just go to the parts place and hope they give me the right stuff.
