Default 2006 volvo S60 rim/tire size

First off I would like to both say hello and apologize if this question has been answered. I did take the time to look and found a TON of useful information, but did not find the direct answer to my question. I know how forums work so I'm sure it has been answered before, so again sorry for wasting anyone's time!

I have a 2006 Volvo S60 FWD w/53k miles.

I would like to put some bigger rims/tires on to fill the body to tire gap, and to increase the style abit. From what I have read I can get away with a 235/45/17. It may rub, but can usually be fixed by replacing steering stops. What I am wondering is can I get away with an 18' rim/tire setup that will not rub. I want to keep stock suspension mainly do to the fact that my wife may put a pillow over my head while I'm sleeping if I mess with the stock feel/checking account that aftermarket suspention brings.
Looks like I need 5-108 bolt pattern. So can someone give me the best 17' rim/tire dimensions and also the 18' rim/tire dimensions if it is even an option. Thank you for having me, and taking the time to help me through these questions!

I was really hoping I could find out if anyone has been down this road before. I'm looking at either
17"
235/45/17
or
18"
235/40/18
If I knew the 18" would work I would grab them in a heart beat. This leads me to believe they will work 2004 Volvo S60 Tire Size but I think this site simply does the math. I guess if I don't hear anything I will call the dealership to try and fish for answers. If anyone has tried the 18" on a 2006 (00-07) Volvo s60 (not R) please let me know. Thanks!

Well if anyone happens to stumble upon this same problem, it looks as if you can get away with an 18" as long as the width is no bigger than 7.5.
As for me I will not be coming back to this forum do to no one even taking the time to say hello. Either this place is dead or no one gives a damn about new people... Anyways drive safe and good luck to anyone who travels down the same road as I looking for 18" rims!

First you need to decode all the specs on wheels and tires when considering upgrades.

1) Bolt pattern. the S60 uses a 5x108
2) Center bore. This is important when going with non-OEM rims as you may need an adaptor ring to make the wheel "hub centric" (in other words it uses the hub not the lug nuts to center the wheel) the S60 has a 65.1mm center bore
3) Wheel size. When going +1 or +2 you don't have to worry about brake clearance but as noted there may be some fender issues. 17s and 18s OEMs are available to fit.
4) Rim width. Generally the taller the wheel the wider the rim width, with S60s taking anything from a 16x6.5 up to a 19x9. For a 235, I'd target an 8" rim. Note my VW CC has 17x8 OEMs running 235/45x17s.
5) Offset. This is the difference from the center of the rim to the hub in a vertical plane. Less offset -the more outward the rim sits. Without knowing which model/wheel you have - I can't say exactly where you are today (you can look for a stamp on your rims that say something like ET38 - which is a 38mm offset.) Your car is probably in the 38-43 range, meaning you can use an aftermarket rim in the 35-50 range (but the wider the rim the less clearance you get).

My thought here is to match specs to a factory OEM rim for the 17 or 18s even if its a style you don't like. For example search for Volvo Pegasus rims for S60s and you will see you they list at 18x8 with a 46 offset...
