Default 2008 S60 Hard start in extreme cold

I have been having trouble getting this thing to fire. Turns over fine, and when warm it starts fine.

Over the holiday the car would not start. Turn over, battery never died but would not fire. So, I put the jet heater on it pointed at the fronof the car. Still no start. Then put at back of car blowing under the whole length of the car and still no start.

So I went out and got a can of starting fluid. Still no start. Now this has been going on all day. My brother comes home and just for the heck of it we put the jumper cables on it and it fired right up.

Had the battery and starter tested and both was good. so a few more days go by and after sitting a while it is very hard to start. Turn but no fire. So I go get another battery. So after sitting overnight last night it would not start. Put the cables on and fired right up even though the battery was fine and engine was turning over.

Seems to me that while cranking it is loosing power to fire the spark plugs. At least thats the way it seems. I did a full service on it this summer along with plugs. In the past two weeks I have put in heat for water in the tank, injector cleaner twice and octane booster. Nothing has helped.

No codes no warning lights nothing.

Any ideas anyone please. And thanks in advance.

I wouldn't add those stuff in the tank as regular gasoline should work fine by itself.

Spark plugs were from Volvo or aftermarket?

Because the jumping worked, it seems to be the ignition in cause, I would check spark plugs, ignition coils. While there I would also clean the MAF sensor.

Sounds like you have a battery jump wire not getting good power. Take all of the wires loose from the battery post and clean real good between them.

Hello,

I was having very similar problems this past winter with my S60. Did you ever get this figured out?
