2009 S60 - Anybody else have this issue?
Hi,
I have a 2009 S60 2.5T FWD with just over 11,000 miles. I noticed a metallic sounding "clank" when I would shift from Park into Reverse or from Neutral back into reverse. Not all the time, but more than half the time. If I just sit there switching gears I can make it do it.
Had my dealer take a look today. The guy who looked at it is very sharp, seems to know Volvo's inside and out. He said it's just the gears making noise when you shift and that there is actually a technical bulletin from Volvo stating how to fix it. Apparently, they use Locktite to seal in the small gaps. It needs to harden for a few hours after application. Will have this done at my next service as the technician also told me that there is no harm being done, simply a noise.
Just wondering if anybody else has noticed this on their S60. Or do I pay too much attention to detail?
Thanks

My noise is coming from the drivers side front wheel area. It's a metal on metal "clank" kind of noise, and it's actually a little worse now than when I first posted this question. I even hear it occasionally now when i take off from a stop sign or a traffic light.
I'm a little surprised that nobody else has had this same issue, as my Volvo dealer seemed to know right away what it was and even mentioned a technical bulletin from Volvo about the issue.
I will have the car serviced in about a month, so I'll report back what they did and whether or not it cured the problem.
