I am seriously considering a 2012 S60 R-Design however I have some reservations about the sound system. Yes I know I am being picky here but I am a big audiophile so this is important to me.

According to reviews, even the premium sound upgrade doesn't sound very "premium." Would anyone else agree with that? I found a review HERE.

Would I be better off getting the stock audio system and upgrading it myself?

Any advice welcome!

 

What about just adding a powered sub? I've never done this myself but I know it can be done without altering the factory sound system. I still can't believe the premium sound system doesn't come with a sub. Not that I need more bass but this would allow the other speakers to be tuned to handle mids/highs and may improve sound quality. The question is whether a custom sub will fit underneath the seats...
