I recently purchased a 2012 S60 T5 with a blown VIN 62 engine. I am wondering if I can swap it with 2013 S60 T5 VIN 61 engine.

looks like the 2012 has a 5254T5 and the 2013 (vin 61) maps to a 5254T12. Most interchange web pages say not compatible, but no reason why...

 

Thanks mt6127. I am new to the forum and I get the sense that the 5254T5 has a flaw causing premature failure. Do you know what is failing in these engines? I am thinking it may be better to rebuild my old engine than swap it with a similar one that may fail.
