2016 V60 AWD - MPG - I kind of expected better
My driving is mostly city stop and go. It has been the same for the past 25 years. When I was driving my 1990 Jaguar XJ6 I would average 15.5 MPG. My 2016 V60 AWD is getting about 18.5 MPG and for a car that is 26 years newer technology I did kind of expect better MPG.
On a long trip on the highway the Jag got about 28 (EPA says it should get 26?) and one time I got 30. On a long trip on the highway the V60 gets about 33 > 34.
I love the car and since I don't drive a lot of miles a year I really don't care but it does seem a bit odd. The AWD probably eats 3 MPG??
Since I have been driving the same routines for many, many years I am comparing apples to apples driving habit. I think I am getting about the same as the 2007 V50 AWD that I owned and probably the same as the 2005 S60 AWD I owned.

My 2015.5 FWD V60 returns about 22-24 city, 34-35 highway (my highway driving is almost all expressway, "consensus" speed 75 -80+ mph). I do not use the stop/start function so I guess your 3 mpg AWD "penalty" is probably close in traffic.
It sounds like you're not getting as good of mileage as you should. My 2016 S60 AWD T5 gets about 11L/100km (20-21 mpg) in the city and a steady 9L/100km (26 mpg) on the highway. Highway speed for this is usually a bit slower (around 65mph) If I take a higher speed highway (around 75-80mph) I'll see the economy go way down.
My 2006 V50 AWD T5 got about the same.
I'm using 94 octane fuel.

When I fill up my tank, I keep track of the MPG. My average speed after using a tank can be from 19 MPH to 21 MPH. Most of the time it is @ 19 MPH average.
Using MPH is a good barometer when comparing MPG between different cars. Below is an example of my last 6 fill-ups and the average MPH driven during that period. I've tried 93 octane but the MPG were the same.
Driven.............MPG............Average MPH
283.00............18.41 ..........21 MPH
242.00............17.69 ..........20 MPH
241.00............17.82.......... 22 MPH
292.00............18.94...........22 MPH
274.00............18.11
308.00............25.88............37 MPH
