Fuel Consumption
Depends on how fast you drive it. My former V50 which was also a 2ltr used to get 54mpg on a run if I kept it to 68mph. Combined Urban and Motorway (Highway) I used to get high 30’s to low 40’s. Does you car have a DPF? Is you EGR clogged up? Due to the age of mine I drive it respectfully due to its age. The V50 wasn’t really tuned with economy in mind however you can still get a respectable return if you’re mindful of your driving style? Curiously? Are you using the figure off the trip meter or are you doing a tank to tank usage calculation?

Wow what is with such good MPG figures. My T5 AWD will get a max of @ 27 on the highway and around town it averages in the mid 16 MPG range. In the years that we've owned the car it has never reached the averages mentioned in this thread.
Heh, you’ll never get much out of an AWD T5... Diesels are always a touch more frugal. I’ve since upgraded to a D4 V60 AWD and the MPG on that one is low 40’s
It’s amazing how an extra cylinder and an AWD unit can sap the fuel

I was guessing that the high MPG reports were diesels. Unless imported, I'm not sure if you can find Volvo diesels in the USA.
Good point, I just checked to see if Diesels were marketed in the US. It’s not a bad thing though, the PSA Diesel engine although a robust unit suffered injector, EGR and DPF issues that ruined a very economical engine. My 2ltr D was capable of exceeding 135mph and achieving 56mpg if driven sensible. The D5 was a cracking engine and suffered very few issues with a life of +250k miles while bringing back a respectable MPG. I outed my V50 due to corrosion on the rear chassis. I loved that motor
