AC compressor
Last fall when I was getting an oil change, a mechanic pulled my shredded ac belt out of my hood. He said it didn’t affect the rest of the motor, so I was okay to keep driving. Flash forward - I’m looking to get it replaced in anticipation of summer. However, the shop I took it to (I’ve since moved) says that I need to replace the AC compressor. For parts and labor the total estimate is $2,200. Is this reasonable? Should I take it to the dealership instead? They said the cost had to do with having to find an AC compressor for a 2012 Volvo S60.
A compressor should be $500-800 depending on brand and source. Do you have a breakdown of the other costs? Did they quote you for a 36001462 compressor?
