Default Advice for new owner

Hi all,

It's good to be back. I had an S40 many years ago and I loved it. I sold that and bought a Honda that I absolutely hated so now I'm back in the club. I just bought a 2007 S60 and I'd like for it to last a long time. Are there any guides on here about what to do when you buy an older Volvo?

I'm going to put new plugs in it and probably a timing belt since I don't know when either was done last. It just had an oil change, but I'm thinking of going synthetic when it's due again. The book says to go 7500 miles on conventional oil. Does that still hold on synthetic or can I go longer?

Anything else I should do to preemptively fend off wear?

Also, it only came with one key. I see some sellers on Amazon and ebay selling what looks like a knock-off key. Does anyone have experience buying one of those? I looked on the Volvo website and they appear to only sell the bottom half of the switchblade style fob, not the top half with the actual key. Alternatively, it looks like I can buy a keyless fob and pair it with a fobless key. Does that seem right?
