Alarm system service required
Guys I have a question on this Topic that I really need help with. My Alarm system service required light comes on every time I turn on ignition. When the car is locked the red light on t he dash flashes indicating that it is armed. So, to test if the alarm worked, I lowered the driver window, locked the car with the remote, the put my hand in and unlock. Nothing happened, not even flashing lights. So with that said could this be just a blown fuse??
Thank you so much guys for your response. I got a quote on how much it would cost to replace the module and its like almost $300, just wish its just a fuse.

It's possible, but if you are driving an older S60, chances are it's a bad module. $300 isn't bad for a replacement given that the module costs anywhere between $170 and $190 and labor (in my area) is $80+ and hour and it takes about an hour to replace it.
i dont think you can find a place that will change the battery
but if you can get the module out (inside the right fender)
you can pop it open and solder in a new battery
look up specifications in the battery in google i found it pretty easaly

Technically you could change it, but here are the problems:
First, the siren module is sealed shut and must be cut open. Second, the battery pack inside is propitiatory, so it would be tough to find a replacement or make a replacement by combining batteries to match its voltage and current. The biggest problem is that the battery is located above the circuit board and when it goes bad it leaks acid which erodes the board.
I opened mine after replacing it and found the board badly damaged.
Here's a reference. It has info about the battery too:
