Default Alarm triggered

Ok guys i have a s60 2001 20t 7 months ago i experienced the dreaded alarm triggered message i would lock the doors and randamly lights would start flashing when i unlock the car it would say alarm triggered one thing i did notice when activating the alarm was the faintest audible sound of the alarm and i mean faint i removed the siren using threads from this site i wont bore you with removal instruction wot i will say is remove fuse position 38 instead of disconnecting battery. you don,t need to drill out round head bolt that holds siren bracket in place it is a threaded bolt a pair of mole grips does the job. the siren is a sealed unit i cut with a hacksaw around the glued joint were black meets grey once inside i noticed battery had leaked over pcb removed old batteries and pcb i cleaned this with contact cleaner harness to batteries no good disposed of i desolded battery harness connector from board as this was damaged to hard to clean i solded new wires straight onto board .I live in the uk i looked for batteries replacement for the old one seem expensive so i went to jessops the camera shop and got six AA rechargable Ni-MH 1.2 v batteries £8 this is equal to 7.2 v or there abouts these would not fit into the siren casing so i glued them onto the outside of the siren case. Drilled a hole for wires i linked the batteries together used hot glue to seal them also cable tied for extra holding to case replaced unit and guess wot it works

That's definitely a smart and very cheap solution! How did you mount the battery pack? It could be placed in an easy to access area for future replacement.

I hope the board hasn't been damaged beyond repair on mine...

I mounted battery pack on the outside of the case drilled 2 holes for ties to go round and glued i also monipulated ally case for extra holding the advantage of batts being on the outside are no leaks inside and replacement relatively easy i think if someone spent enough time you could make a quick release version
