Default Car Alarm Triggered Message

I have a 2001 s60, and this started about several weeks ago. Out of nowhere my car alarm would get triggered. I'll be looking out my window at the car, 1 minute its perfectly fine, the next the alarms just starts to go off (nothing inside and nothing around it). Is this a loose connection or something? I believe this is the factory alarm also. any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Usually that means the alarm siren is bad.

okay, i'll have to look at that. is it as simple as replacing the batteries or the entire siren? Sorry i've never seen it so wouldn't know what to expect. And where is it located usually? Thanks

Normally you have to replace the whole siren. On S80s it's located in the forward part of right front fenderwell behind the liner - you have to drill out some rivets to get to it. I think the S60 is similar.

Most sirenshave the sides heat-shrink (or what ever you call it), so it can't be serviced by the owner...we took apart ours by using a knife, and was surprised to find that even if you got it opened, the circuit board and batteries are covered in silicone glue.
Just buy a new one.
I believe the sirenis located inside the front pass. wheel-well.
