Apexcone HID Upgrade Pictures
After finally having the time to finish the APEXCONE 55w 5000k HID Kit install I've decided to put up some pictures. My first response is AWESOME. I had a chance to drive from Flagstaff to Phoenix last weekend at night and it was great. People move out of the way but no-one flashed me. I ended up lowering the headlights just a tad though because of the increased output.
I also want to give a big THANKS to John at SHARPHID.COM. He was great answering my questions prior to the purchase and afterwards as well. If anyone is looking for a great kit and want to purchase it from a great guy then John is the guy to talk to. Thanks again John.
I posted all the pictures on my web server. You can check them out here: http://www.net-impress.com/volvo/headlights/
I only have one issue and that is with the light spray from my headlights. (Can be seen in the 1st picture) This light sprays up very high on the wall that I parked in front of. Is this normal? Can it be reduced/removed?

You can see the light spray (above) that I am talking about. This spray actually lights up street signs about 1/4 mile away.

Another shot of the light spray.

Light spray on the drivers side

This picture was taken about 20' back from the wall. The lights seem a little low but I like that they do not blind anyone.

Taken at 10' from the wall. Lights go up to about my knees. (2ft?)

Another shot from 20'. Look how nice and white the output is!

I'm glad to see that someone on this board listened to me about SharpHID and used the SEARCH feature and or the PINNED topics threads I have posted all over the forum.
I've all but decided that the 55w kit produces TOO MUCH light output. It wouldn't be a problem if I could figure out a way to control the light spray that emits UP and OUT from the lights. As I drive on the freeway at night and pass people the headlights light up the interior of cars as I pass them. I noticed that large signs on the road are illuminated off my drivers and passengers side far more than they should be. As I pass UNDER large freeway signs I see that they are illuminated up to the point where I go under them.
Overall I believe this setup might be obnoxious and I have no intention on blinding people. I found myself lowering the lights (via adjustment) so far down to keep from blinding people with the light spray that I cannot see more than60 ft in front of the car while driving. (much less than before – in fact my High Beams now point where my low beams used to).
I LOVE the color and output but the 04 S60's headlamps clearly were not designed for these kinds of lights. My last resort will be to install spacers between the bulbs and the housing to try and set the bulb further back in the housing. These HID bulbs are longer than the OEM bulbs and that might be contributing to the problems I am having.
Has anyone elsehad any light spray issues with these bulbs or head lamps? Specifically with the 55w kit? I am going to try the 35w kit before going back to stock, but I will go back to stock if the light spray is still a problem.
Thanks,
Dan
