AUTO start system
Hello everyone. My name is Andreas and this is my first post.
There is something that bothers me so I would like to ask the experts.
Last year I bought a new VOLVO S60 Diesel manual. It has the AUTO start system. Once you are stopped on neutral gear car stops and upon pressing the clutch car starts again.
How this technology works? Is it full switch on/off? People who come to my car keep telling me that I should disable it because it will damage the starter or shorten the lifetime of the starter.
Personally I don't want to believe that there is such risk. Does anybody had any bad experience with this or knows that is safe to use or not?
Thanks for reading.

New to you or new to the world? If it is a brand new car then it may be part of some economical setting to save fuel. Worth checking the owners manual to see if there is any thing in it.
If it is a factory system designed to do this then the starting system will be beefed up to handle the higher number of starts.

Thanks a lot for answering. The car is new to the world. I thought also that since it is factory design it should handle it somehow but I thought I should get a second opinion. The first of the link you sent me talks about "A more robust starter..." which should mean what you just told me.
