Looking at getting a 2020 or later V60 and I'm confused as to which ones have a normal autobox with torque convertor and which have a dual clutch box. I think the D3 amd 4 and T3 and 4 have the good old fashioned box but do all the B3s and B4s have the dual clutch box? I need a box with a smooth creep facility so I can get my car into my garage where it goes with inches to spare. Hence I need to go slowly

can't speed to the Volvos but I have a VW CC with the DSG (dual clutch computer controlled manual) and my car creeps perfectly in/out of the garage. I'd suggest you do a test drive of the V60 and test it out but I'd bet its actually better than a traditional slushbox auto since the computer controls RPMs and clutch engagement (including slipping the clutch for start up).

 

Thanks. Actually it was VW's I was reading about where they say they're jerky at slow speed. I think you're right, I have to try one

 

Since I grew up with MTs, I consider the "jerky" at slow speed normal for a directly connected transmission. Once the clutch is fully engaged, DSGs will feel like a manual - so in 1st gear if you going say 5 mph, the car will respond to throttle tip in and release. The DSG is very good at slipping the clutch at take off and is idiot proof when stopping and engaging the clutch (say you leave the car in manual mode - the CPU says ok, I'll put you in the correct gear and disengage the clutch when you go too slow for that gear)
