axle rebuild S6o R
Hey guys I was replacing my front control arm bushings today. Everything went well until I pulled on the passenger side front hub to get the arm off and felt the inner axle boot pop. So I took off axle and removed inner boot. found the ***** all fell out of the cage. my question is there a way to rebuild these inner joints? i can get everything back together but the cage assembly feels like it is binding up and has no movement when everything is together.
A new axle is over $700 from IPD. For sure I don't want to drop that kind of money.

what year is your S60 and is it FWD, AWD, Auto or manual? You should be able to find a rebuilt axle for about $80 - I've had good luck with rebuilds from FCPEURO and EEUROPARTS... Also there are kits etc on eBay as well. What I suspect happened is you may have popped off a retaining clip and you need to repack/regrease/reclip. If you buy a replacement boot kit it will come with the grease - just make sure the clip is not lost/damaged. The easy way to go is to drop the $80 and get a professionally rebuilt part.

It's a 2004 s60 R manual transmission so AWD turbo. The clips are fine, the problem I am having is that center carrier for the ***** binds up and won't move with all 6 in. Is it supposed to be keyed a certain way? I've rebuilt hundreds of cv axles in the past just not an inner one on an R this one looks different then most other ones.
Also a reman from fcp is 500 with my employee discount.
I'll take some maybe that will help provide a visual aid.
