Default Rebuild my 91 940 turbo wagon?

Hello,
Does anyone have any advice for a 91 940 that appearantly blew a gasket?
I read that these engines are also great for modifications, would it be worth it to have it "suped up" instead of a regular rebuild?
Should I look for a used 940 engine and swap?
trade it in for a newer model?
This is a cost for what you get question. Over the last 2 years I've dumped in some cash for a water pump, radiator, starter, exhaust manifold bolt removal/replacement, timing belt, a few gaskets. I love the car and would hate to see it go. Also, I realize I can't sell it for much in this state anyway, and I can't buy a new volvo right now.
Thanks for your help.

If you can work slowly buy a used engine for now and drop it in.
Take the old one and build it up then drop it in when it is done.

Thanks tech,
is it the same advice if I won't do the work myself, or are we talking thousands of dollars? I use an independent volvo shop for most of the work. Is it too outrageous to pay someone to do this?

Also, what IS the estimated cost of rebuilding (including boring out cylinders, etc.)?

The shop might charge between $1000,00 and like $1500,00 or so to do the swap. The engine is most likely going to be like $300.00 or so.

To build an engine might cost you like $1000.00 to $2000.00 then installation.

YOu would have to call an engine shop to get more specifics.

What Gasket Blew out?

If it is a HeadGasket and the engine Didn't lock up a new Gasket or Gasket and Head can be installed on the old block.
