Belt Noise When Motor Is Running and other questions
'Just purchased a 2002 S60 2.4 with 72,000 miles well below blue book with the understanding I would be looking a a couple of thousand dollars to get the vehicle back to spec.
I have noticed the car is loud when running----in other words you hear the belt/s rotating when standing outside of the car. Is this indicative of this motor or is it a sign of the need for a new timing belt or other belts? The car runs well, idles well and has plenty of acceleration but it is loud when compared to other autos.
Is it okay to use a fully synthetic oil with the 2.4 motor?
Are there any considerations I need to know about when changing out the hoses and flushing the radiator and transmission?
Thank you for your time and insight.

I am having the same problem on my 01 S60 with 73k miles. Once it warms up it will start making a loud squeeling noise. It goes away as I'm accelerating but then comes back once I let off. Any ideas tech??
