Blower motor won't run
Hi,
I've got a 2001 S60 non-turbo. I noticed the other day without fanfare that the blower was not working at all. It doesn't have climate control, so I tried the speed resistor in all positions and none of them worked.
Without the engine on, I do hear a groaning sound from the firewall area when I turn the fan switch on. It sounds like a solenoid straining, or maybe it's the motor itself.
There is a possibility of rodent interference. I'm thinking this in terms of clogging up the cage so it won't turn, but chewed wires is a possibility as well.
I think the way at the blower cage/motor is by taking the glove box out? But I'm not sure. I've also heard that in some models it's easier to go in from the engine compartment. At the same time I'm due for a new cabin filter.
I would appreciate any ideas to diagnose and attack this problem.
