brake light on with car off

Default brake light on with car off

I have a 2001 s60 and today I noticed the brake light stays on with the car off but not the center light just the tail lights. help!!!

The 3rd brake light works normally?

yes the center light in the back window works.

There is a relay in the rear fuse panel(trunk) that might be sticking open causing the lights to stay on. I forget the exact position. But should be easy to find. It should be the only hot one after the car has been off for a while.

looks like it is a bad relay, when i tap it the brake light goes out. nice job thanks!!!

Your welcome. I would get a new one and swap it out.
