Brakes and Tire question
Hi guys. I'm coming up on 50,000 miles for my 2013 S60 and I was wondering if brake replacement as well as tire replacement might be soon? I know these parts are imminent but is there a rule of thumb, guestimate?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Personally I won't run tires below 5/32 tread depth. Too much risk for hydroplaning and loss of traction on wet roads beyond that point IMO. Brakes truly are dependent on individual driving habits. I've seen brakes last 20K, 150K, and everything in between.
You have gotten 50K miles out of your original tires?
What brand / model are they?
Mine came with Continentals (can't remember the exact tire model), but I had to replace them at 20K. I found them to have very poor traction in wet, and not very good in dry either. I replaced them with Pirelli P7s; have about 1K on them so far, and they're pretty good. They're supposed to last 70K, which will probably translate to 40K or 50K I bet.
Did all the S60s come with these Continentals? Did I just get some bad examples?

Michelin tires, and I bought the car last summer with 32k miles. I understand the wear and tear factor, I just thought there was a general time frame as far as mileage is concerned. So I need to check tire tread wear as well as brake pad wear. Thank-you guys
