Hey everyone,

im looking at getting the wife a 02 S60T5, auto tranny and hopeing i can get some advice on the car such as common known problems, etc...

ive read where the s80t's have the common tranny probs, is this the same on the s60s ??? thanks for any advice..

 

The 02s transmission is much more solid than the 01 - that said they are still the weak point in the car.

Mine has been excellent for 125k miles (85k of which are mine). I highly recommend it, great vehicle but get her a proper transmission if she knows how to drive it

Do the s60's use the same crappy 4t65e trannys like in the s80's ?? if so, im not too thrilled about it...

BTW... love the video bender

 

They use the AW55 in the automatics which is in just about every vehicle on the planet since 01.

Its a good transmission IF the software is up to date and IF it is flushed semi-regularly (30-45k). Volvo says the transmission fluid is lifetime - that is total BS.

Just one more note on T5s. I am running FAR more power than your wife ever will, and likely drive far more aggressively, this bodes well for reliability for other, less demanding drivers.
