Default Car died lights dimmed engine stopped running

Yesterday i bought a new AC delco battery for my car suffering flat battery constantly. My lights dimmed and brightened on idle so i know the alternator was working. Last night i noticed various error messeges and the lights dimmed engine stopped and low battery warning was on i now think something wrong with alternator but its - 6 degrees outside and i not used my car for over a month whilst i was away. during this time its been very very cold here. Battery tester says no charge and bat low. oh and it blew 2 headlights bilbs and the left headlight fuse. does this mean the alternater has packed up or just too cold to work?????? any help would be great please.

It's not possible to give you accurate answer without actually testing the car myself.

I would suspect there is (are) a parasitic drain somewhere. If it keeps blowing the headlights/fuses, I would check around there for possible wiring damage.

P.S: AC Delco is a GM's OEM MFG. I would go with The Interstate Batteries.

Possible alternator high output failure.
Check alternator output with meter or at auto parts store; probably bad now.
Do you notice a heavy displeasing / acidic smell?
Is the battery swollen or bulging?
Check for frozen battery (ies). Below freezing temps with no use for a month?
Replace alternator as required.
Replace battery.
Replace headlights.
Drive to warmer climate.
