Default Car grabs while driving

Yesterday - in the high heat and humidity- my Volvo S60 - 130 T miles- grabbed - while I was just driving. It felt quick - like I had hit a rock. Then it did it again in 1/4 mile, and again. It seemed like the AC wasn't working and when I got home and turned off the car the exclamation light went on and the message said my airbag needed maintenance.
I had it towed to my Volvo mechanic and they called and said it was driving fine. They ran the computer on it and only a couple of minor messages came up. They have been driving it around trying to get it to do it again.
Any ideas? I have maintained it faithfully.
Thanks.

this might be far fetched but perhaps when your AC kicked on and tried to rotate it was seized and bogged down the engine.

Thanks for the reply. I stopped by yesterday and he thinks it has to do with the DIM.
Although the "check engine " message is often on, it doesn't seem to me that it would have anything to do with the sharp grabbing that was happening every few minutes. They don't seem to be able to make it happen. The DIM sounds expensive.
