1. Drive the Audi first, then come back to us with your comments on both.

Then we can possibly give you some insight.

A guy I work with has an Audi and he said that it is in for service all the time. He constantly has to bring it back in for problems. I do not know if that is indicative of all Audis, but friends of mine who have volkswagens have relayed similar problems.

My $.02

I purchased my '02 S60 T5 within the last year and was also considering an Audi 2.7T at the time. In doing some research (Consumer Reports and others) I found that the Audi was reported to be less reliable in virtually every aspect. The Volvo got much better marks in reliability, safety, etc. Volvo seems to have a better built interior and is much more comfortable. My dad recently purchased an '02 Quattro wagon. He has had some minor problems already. I rode in it and the interior is not nearly as comfortable or quiet as my Volvo. Audi's are decent cars but unreliable. Do some research. CarMax LINKhas a decent website that has ratings and reviews, also check Edmunds and definitely Consumer Reports.

Newer Audi's have gotten better reviews, so if you decide to go with Audi, get a newer model.

Coming from an Audi A6 2.8 to my current 2001 S60 T5, I can say that my Volvo is ALOT more reliable than the Audi. The Audi had alot of problems with electrical, cooling, etc... and every repair is costly. Also, not alot of people will work on Audi and their dealer network is horrible. Parts are also pricey and scarce. Comparing it to my Volvo, it did have a quieter and smoother ride, but handling, and power were something left to be desired. Although to mention, my Volvo has the sport turned suspension, whilst the Audi did not and it's suspension was tuned more towards comfort. The only complaints I would have about my volvo are a semi-loud(er) ride, and a wide turing radius, but that's it. I love the style, power, handling, comfort and saftey. If i was to choose between the two, I would time and time again, choose the Volvo.

I've had Volkswagons and they are very expensive on parts/labour and insurance. I try to do all the work myself and just hate the thought of going to the stealership. When I went to my volvo dealership for a shock and engine mount for my s60T I thought I was gonna get bent over, but surprisingly the parts were reasonable. Working on the Volvo everything is easily accessable unlike the German cars. I'm never going back to Volks/Audi [:@]
