Just replaced the PCV system, now car wont idle. Please help!
So i replaced my pcv system/ oil trap. Got everything buttoned up, realized i forgot to screw the knock sensor back in.....[:@]. Thats what happens when you dont take your times folks. Anywho, i need the car for a trip tomorrow, so i figured the lack of knock sensor would just throw a check engine light, and i can put it back on when i return.
Finished putting everything back together this morning, went to start the car. The car will not idle, or start without me opening up the throttle manually. I can stick the throttle at any rpm and it will stand there, but if i take my foot off the gas it just died. The IAC should be working fine, unless it just randomly died this morning while i was putting everything back together. All the hoses to the iac are secure.
Do you think the fact that the nock sensor is not plugged in has anything to do with this? I'm really stumped here honestly. I made sure i put everything back together properly, i just feel like im missing something.
If anyone could help me out it would be great. I'm kind of in a tight spot because i really need to use my car for something very important tomorrow.
Thanks Guys.

RE: Just replaced the PCV system, now car wont idle. Please help!
Well i just plugged the nock sensor back in and its still not idling. I checked my hoses a million times, and they are all fine. I thought it might be the IAC so i disconnected the output hose leading back into the throttle body, and started the car. Immidiately the car jumped to a very high idle and i could hear lots of air flowing through the IAC. So it seems the IAC is working, just for some reason it really does not want to idle. I feel like im missing something here... im really at a loss.

Someone was saying i need to clear my codes before replacing the knock sensor will make a difference. Do you think that could be the case? I'm pretty sure i mounted the knock sensor where its supposed to be, right above the pcv oil trap, then there is another sensor thats mounted right above what looks to be the starter, to the right of the oil trap. Is there a certian position the sensor needs to be in regards to mounting it to the block?
Thanks Tech.

The left one when looking at the car needs to be at 3:00 and the right one above the starter needs to be at a little past 5:00.
I just did a set today on a customers car.
I still don't think that will cause the idle problem but you never know.

Any idea on what could be the cause of the idle problem Tech? All the hoses are really tight, the idle controll valve seems to be operational, all the hoses to the pcv valve are in the right spot. I changed my distributor cap, and rotor while i was doing this job as well. Do you think it could be something involved with the ignition system? I made sure all the plug wires are in the right places and connected to the right spots on the distributor cap. Im about to just get it towed to the shop, but i've allready done most of the work myself... im sure you know the story :/
