Question "CH" noise after changing pads and rotors.

just replaced frontbrake pads and rotors on my 2002 s60 2.4 all was fine until we took it on a test run. both driver and passanger side tires were making a metallic "CH" sound. it wasnt a constant noise but for a split second as the tire rotated over a spot. after inspecting both driver and passanger side wheels we cant come up with anything.. has this happened to anyone else?

Were they coated gray?
Some of them are not machined all the way and will just barely rub the backing plate.
I have had some that I have to remove the rotor and tap the backing plate down some closer to the hub.
