Default changing oil

I own an '04 S60 2.5T and am changing the oil. I read in the owners manual that my engine takes 6.1 qts. from empty, but how much am I supposed to put in if I'm just changing the oil?

Start off with 5.8 quarts, allow it to get through into the sump (oil pan) then check the dipstick. If necessary add a little more.

People make this harder than what it should be. Just buy six quarts, and pour it in. Makes absolutely no difference if you have 5.8 or 6.1 in the sump.
