Default Cold air kits?

Hello again everyone. I have a question about cold air intake kits. I know in some cases they can spool up the turbo a little sooner and even give you 1 or 2 mpg. Has anyone used the kit from Evolve and what was your experience like installing it? Did it help any? Or did it just look cool?

I would not waste the time or money.

The factory "R"/ T-5 intake is actually really good. Just get a K&N replacement filter, and all you would have to do is add a duct to go from the front bumper to the box to let more air in.

I agree, I personally wouldn't waste the $450.00 on the Evolve CAI..... and I love their products.

But as far as the R goes, the stock air box (and intercooler) are quite restrictive. I put in a version of the RKelly intake, IPD now sells them. And I still use a paper filter. Might want to read this, my install starts at post 33.

I own an 07 2.5t, I was looking for intake options as well. Would an R stock airbox setup work on a normal 2.5t? Or would an EST Short Ram or my stock setup with a drop in, work fine as well?

I am not 100% sure on stock swap, but you can get the EST intake.
Drop-in filter will be just as descent.

I have the Evolve AMS on my R and my son has the RKelly on his. I like them both and they both help performance a lot. The Evolve kit looks fantastic under the hood and I think the RKelly sounds better. I can hear that baby sucking air when my son starts his car up in the morning. If you get the Evolve kit you need to get at least one hood grill and the grill cover plate. Without it, I don't think you will see any improvement. The other night I washed my car and left the cover plate on the grill. I felt a noticeable difference in performance but that is a subjective feeling, maybe a dyno would say otherwise. At any rate if you feel like spending the money go ahead I think it's worth it and I spent some time pondering if I should. As for the install, it's easy and fun. Good luck.
