Costco Tires
I'm a new Volvo owner. I have an 02 S60, and it needs new tires. Does anyone have any opinions on the tires offered at Costco?

I live in Chicago, so deal with heavy snow and hot temps.

Well, given those choices I would definitely go with the Michelin. They will outlast and outperform the BF's. The actual tire you go with would be based on your driving habits, the life expectancy you have for the tire and other factors you deem relevant.
Hi Jason,
Welcome to the forum.
Of those selections, I too would go with one of the Micheline's. But if I were to drive in Chicago (I have lived by O'Hare for about a year), I would use snow tyres in winter (Bridgestone Blizzak or Nokia anything). If you want an all-season set, then one of the Micheline's would be fine. I once drove in heavy snow and you really don't want to do it in Chicago; the traction was absolutely poor and I had difficulty (as much as some fun) keeping the heading of the car straight.
Good luck,
JPN

Well, now I'm a little confused. I'll never admit to knowing cars, but I'm fairly certain my S60 is a 2.4, not a 2.4T. The sticker on my gas cap says that I need tires that are 195/65R15, which corresponds to the 2.4. However, the tires on my car are Michelin Energy at 205/55/R16 which correspond to the normal 2.4T setup.
If I go with a 205/55/R16, my choices change quite a bit...

Beyond picking a tire, I'm not beyond confused as to what the deal is with my car? I don't know anything about the options on 2002 S60's, so could the first owner have just upgraded the tires to the 16 inchers?
Thanks for helping this lost soul...

The 15" tire is the norm but many S60's were ordered with 16" or 17" tires as an option. If you have the 16" wheels then the 205/55/R16 is the specified tire. It was what came on my S60. Based on your choices I would still go with the Michelins. Unless you really need the high performance I would go with one of the mid priced tires. They're all good.
