Default did previous owner convert to hid??

i had multiple messages the other day and one was dipped bulb failure. i pulled the bulds and both look blown. but the bulbs do not fit right they dont lock in like the high. the are just stuck in the hole. the bulbs i removed are 12v 55w h7u and when i look them up they are zenon bulbs is this a common mod someone did to the car incorrectly. why would both bulbs blow at one time. i dont want this to happen to her at night.

The owners manual should list the specs of the stock bulbs in the last few pages, under Specficications.
Most of the mods would be switching to HIDs or upgrading to PIAA bulbs.

I had that problem on the drivers side. I noticed the bulb was not mounted in there correctly, and was loose. Took it in and they said the clip was on backward, they reversed the clip, and its in there tight now. They also said the plastic bulb mount had broken off, but you have to buy a whole lens setup to repair it, cant just buy the mount. The existing clip works just fine though. I had just bought the car so someone had been playing around in there. They(Volvo Dealer) fixed it for free, took about a minute.
