does disc size matter?
I have an S60 2003 D5 and I have to change the discs. I notice in the workshop manual that there are two sizes. 286mm and 305 mm. I have already bought the 305 mm. On the car presently are 286 mm. Will it be a probalem if I fit the larger discs?
Only way to fix is buy larger calipers and also i think you Must have 17in rims or larger to allow the larger calipers to fit.Per 2003 T5 and mine AWD 2.5T (sports package i beieve) and R all have the larger rims.
no - any rims will fit the 305s - but not all rims will fit R brakes
D5/2.4 NA - almost all have 286s (note i say ALMOST all)
2.4t, 2.5t, t5 - almost all have 305s (note i say ALMOST all)
R - ALL are 330m (front)
D5/2.4 NA - almost all have 286s (note i say ALMOST all)
2.4t, 2.5t, t5 - almost all have 305s (note i say ALMOST all)
R - ALL are 330m (front)
I can confirm that laregr discs don't fit. FCP just sent me a full set of Brembo rotors and Akebono pads for my 2004 S60 but somehow they managed to send three at 286mm and one at 305mm. It was a front disc that was too big and at a glance they look nearly identical until you try to mount the caliper. FCP sent out a new one but it forced me to re-mount all the old parts back onto the car for another 2 weeks so I was not too happy about their screw up.
