ALTERNATOR amperage? does it matter?
So my alternator bushing is toasted its time to replace I don't know what sizei have in the car.the parts store says there is *** amp and at70? Amp if my 245 came with the 55 amp could I use the bigger alternator or does it have to be a direct swap
I prefer to upgrade when parts go out and recently iv been doing alot of upgrading my 83 245 just rolled over 100k miles and she is showing her age before she us showing her miles

Rule of thumb...you can always go larger but not smaller. For instance, my 144 came w/ a 35 amp alternator....I'm currently running a 100 amp alternator.

Wow pierce! You are a hell of a mathematician!!! Just checked it out and you were right. 100 amps is around 12 KW!!!. But I guess he has AC,electric windows, heated seats, heated rear windows, powerful stereo and speakers, electric mirrors and all that stuff :-) which was not there when the 144 was new.
