Default Does a wash effect it THAT much?

Hi all

Sunday morning and all was well with the world.

I washed me car yesterday (2002, S60 D5) and it looks NICE.

But, when I come to use it this morning I turn the key and all hell breaks looses - engines turns over reaaaallll slow a couple of times then stops, headlights flashing and a ticking noise (quite loud) from engine. All lights internally are flashing - fuel indicator says 999999 miles to empty, then it says Brake Failure stop safely (lol!) and then Engine Service, all the while lights are flashing and that annoying ticking sound.

I know I did not leave the lights on (or anything else for that matter) so WTF??

Had two dipped beam bulbs go in last 2 months, and it told me a parking light had gone (it had - it was not working) but then, a day later it decided it was (and it was) working fine!!! Every so often when driving I would get a loud beep from the system and a secondary (like split second) loss of power and it would carry on - is all this related?

I am in NO WAY a car expert but it *sounds* like an electrical problem to me lol.

Any pointers? Ideas, feedback or is it foobar'd?

Sounds to me like the battery went bad.
Most likely you will need a new one.

Cheers tech.

Hmm - when I switch it on, the radio plays (but only comes out of central speakeron dash) and the system messages display then fade.

What can cause a battery to fail like that?

I guess I will be contacting ye olde Volvo garage in the mornin' then

The batteries are the most unpredictable item in the automotive world.
They could work fine one minute and then be totaly dead the next minute.

Try to get a jump start and see if it starts.

I replaced a bulb yesterday (position light) - warning light went out - then back on this morning - then went out on the way to work! You're not alone in that area

It seems like an original battery problem. Had the same with my previous car, and solved it in 5 minutes by changing the battery. In our days batteries could die in less than 3 years!!!
