the dreaded instrument cluster problem
Hi all. We have a 2006 S60 purchased used this past year. When we bought it the guy said he recently replaced the instrument cluster. It was working fine up until a month ago when the SRS light came on. Our then mechanic said not to worry about it. When we had it inspected last week, it failed because the light was on. We took it to our local Volvo dealer who said the airbags were fine but that the cluster needs to be replaced - $1,400! A local Volvo repair shop said basically the same. We found a repair service on ebay who will repair for $388 with a guarantee. Is there any reason we can't pull and install the cluster ourselves and go the ebay route? Of course we would welcome any other thoughts about this problem. Obviously we'd like to save ourselves some $$. Thanks!

I found a thread that is just like your problem. It covers a couple of different options. A couple people fixed the issue themselves with just a soldering iron and a few minutes. So give it a read.

actually you can easily send out your cluster to get repaired for under $200. I just did it. Go to Ebay and lookup seller euro-electric. They give you easy instructions on how to pop out your panel, mail it to them and they ship it back fixed 1 2 3. Dont do like I did and wait for years and trying everything under the sun.
There are other sellers that seem more expensive out there.
or can search.
