Ok I searched and only came up with posts about rear door locks.

Here is the story: I had a baseball game in town about 40 miles from home, my wife locked her keys in the car 2002 S60 AWD about 5 miles from me after dropping me off at the game. She called a tow company to have them try to get in but rather than slim jim it they tried to wedge the door open. Since this is her baby she told them get stop touching her car and to leave. Another guys wife on the team said she knew how to slim jim doorhandles. She tried, now the door handle doesn't work from the outside but works fine from the inside.

So here is my question: Is this an anti-theft feature that disconnects the door handle when tried to break-in? Or did something get broken inside the door that I need to take it to a shop to get fixed? Could I take the door panel off and fix it myself or in the space between the window and the door too small for standard tools to work in? Does anybody have pictures of the inner working of an S60 door handle? Thanks in advance.

I will bet the door handle rod got knocked off.

You can remove the door panel and inspect it and maybe even fix it.

 

I agree, it sounds like the rod between the handle and the latch itself just got knocked off.
