ECU chip from the dealer

I was at the dealer looking at a V70 R and the sales person (he was a older guy), said I could get a chip which would make if a "Corvette Killer". I don't wanna say that he was talking aftermarket chip because he didn't look like the type that knew about aftermarket chips. Are there any chips that the dealer would install? Can you get a chip from the dealer?

I have never heard of a ECU upgrade from a dealership. Now maybe some dealers have gone into the HEICO or EVOLVE areas of the Volvo aftermarket world and can get you a ECU upgrade from one of these companies, but as far as an actual ECU upgrade from Volvo not going to happen.
Also a Corvette killer, I don't know about that one. Yeah the new R's have 300 Hp out of the factory and with some minor upgrades such as a downpipe, catback system and an ECU upgrade can be even better.
V70r = a little over 3500 pounds and 300 Hp
Corvette Z06 = 505 Hp and just over 3100 pounds
-----------------------------
V70r = a little over 3500 pounds and 300 Hp
Corvette Convertable = Just over 3200 pounds and 430 Hp
-----------------------------
V70r = a little over 3500 pounds and 300 Hp
Corevette Coupe = a little over 3200 pounds and 430 Hp
*As you can see the Corvettes power numbers are much higher the the V70R's. Even with a downpipe, catback system and an ECU upgrade you might be lucky to hit 375 Hp - 400 Hp.

I didn't belive the sale person about it spanking a vette, I knew that. I was mainly asking about the chip, if the dealer are installing chips from HEICO or EVOLVE, shouldn't they be under warranty? Just asking because the dealer got it for you and installing it, its not like you brought it in asking them to do it.

If EVOLVE or HEICO has a warranty on their ECU upgrades that is the warranty you would get most likely. I doubt Volvo would add a warranty ontop of that.

Do this for me. Please call that dealership and ask them what ECU upgrade they can give you and how much. I would like to know. Because I know most dealership will not and do not deal in aftermarket items.

I wasn't talking about a chip warranty, but a warranty in general for the partsdealers install if you got it from the dealer. If they don't install chips, thats fine too, again, thats what the sales person told me, I can't ask a question, this forum is for question right?

He just told me about a chip, I wasnt interested in a chip at the time so I dont know if it was something that he heard or it's something that the dealer dose, I dont know, this was like a year ago. Since he brought it up without me asking, I thought they installed them.

Most Volvo dealerships will only warranty thier own parts from Volvo. Thusly it makes me want to say that that dealership wont warranty an ECU upgrade only the ECU upgrade company would.
Also he could have just been telling you that you can upgrade the ECU from various vendors in the Volvo aftermarket world. He probably didn't say that they installed them.
