Default Emergency

My friend is borrowing my '04 S60. Today he tells me that when he attempted to use the keyless entry it wouldn't umlock the doors. Then after that he starts the car and the dash lights failed to come on. Still not a huge problem. Then he puts it in drive and presses the accellerator and the car acts like it's trying to take off in 3rd gear. It moves but very little pickup. It sounds like an electrical problem to me. Maybe as simple as a fuse. I'm 2 hours away from the car so I really can't trouble shoot it or check fuses. He's currently enrolled in UTI so he's pretty car savvy. Could it just be a fuse? Or is it more like a control module? Maybe TCM? He also stated that the blinkers are also not working. Any input would be great and I'll relay it to him. -Thanks!

Best thing to do would be to have all the codes pulled.

That is absolutely no help to me at this point. What I need to know at this point is what controls or powers the dash, trans, blinkers, doors. All of it went down at the same time.

It could be 100 different things.
The car has about 20 different computers that are networked.
If one goes bad it could take the entire car out.
I couls list close to 100 different things it could be without knowing the codes that are in the computers I cant even tell you where to start.
The ABS module could do it.
The front door window switch could do it.
The rear veiw mirror could do it.

ETC
Sorry but these cars are not like the older cars.
I wish it would be that easy to tell you but it isn't.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

Well for future refrence to those of us that ever run into this same problem there is a simple fix. I spoke with the local Volvo dealership tech and he told me that my car "went to sleep." Yes those were his exact words. The car wouldn't start off in first gear, no blinkers, no instrument cluster power... etc. The fix was to remove both battery cables and touch them together for 15 minutes and reconnect. Simple as that. The car came back to life and everything works as advertised.
