Default Emergency brake problem

Had a friend yank the s*** out of the emergency brake handle, farther than I've every had it. After getting it unset, now the handle has no resistance in either direction and it feels like I'm driving with the brake on.

After I dope slap my friend, I guess I need to get back there with some PB blaster or something. Is there an emerg brake on each side of the rear, or just one? Anyone have some insight for me? Thanks in advance.

In my lack of patience, I used that "Ask a Volvo Mechanic Now" thingy at the top of the pages...worked pretty good. I let you know if what they said works. Any other thoughts are appreciated. I'm going to attack it in the morning.

On my R the e-brake is inside the hub on both wheels. If you don't use it often it's possible it might have gotten stuck.

As it turns out the cable snapped and the right rear brake grenaded in there. Hilarity did not ensue. Got the rotor off and mangled parts went everywhere.

Probably just leave it for now, the other side works fine.
